Welcome back to my blog!
The past week In my tutorial my paintings seemed have the a sense of 'glimpse', that being when you remember a scene of a landscape. Blaenau has that effect on many; it definitely has that effect on me. people everyday pass through but never normally stop. I believe it to be a magical place; one day, it could be bright and lively with the slate glistening, the next day, the town will be covered down to the buildings in grey clouds, that is why I wanted to create this project to showcase my ever-evolving home .
I feel my paintings are progressing quite nicely; however, still in the faze of improving and developing.
This past week, I've been focusing on using boards as my surface, creating ideas, and giving my compositions a trial on surfaces.
I created 7 different types of paintings this week. I decided to depict various scenes of Blaenau to determine what kind of paintings I wanted to create. I believe my more simplistic paintings are the best at the moment; However, that could change by next week I will just trust the process and let my paintings tell me what my next step in this project is.
Today, I am still being inspired by Lawrence Gowing's piece from last week's blog post because of his mark-making and how he applies layer upon layer, and want to achieve this in my own work. Until next time! Happy painting!
